What we publish
Stories with a darker edge
Epic fantasy, crime, noir and darkly comic historical fiction — stories with heart and a shadow in them. If your book would sit comfortably beside ours, we’d love to read it.
How to submit
Four simple steps
Get your pack ready
A short query, a one-page synopsis, and the first three chapters of your manuscript (roughly the opening 10,000 words).
Put it in one document
Save your synopsis and chapters together as a single PDF or Word file, in standard manuscript format.
Email it to us
Send your pack to submissions@fennandfable.com during an open window — the first runs from 1 September, for a limited period only.
We read, and reply
We read everything within the window and come back to you with a real answer, either way — within three months of the window closing.

What to expect
After you press send
A quick hello
You’ll get an acknowledgement that your submission has safely arrived — so you’re never left wondering.
A real read
We read everything within the window, properly — no skim-and-bin. We take on only a select few titles, and give each one our full attention.
An honest answer
You’ll hear from us either way, with a genuine answer on the book — within three months of the window closing. A yes means we talk about publishing it together; a no is simply a no — no upsell, no sales pitch.
Our promise
Only ever about the book
Your submission is assessed on the manuscript alone.
We will never contact you to sell Writer’s Studio services, and submitting never adds you to any marketing list. The traditional list and the Studio are two entirely separate paths — we keep them apart on purpose.
