The Book House

About Fenn & Fable

Fenn & Fable ampersand seal

A small, independent book house built on a simple belief: that the biggest stories are the ones that break your heart a little, then hand it back larger than before.

What we are

Fenn & Fable publishes big-hearted, dark-edged fiction — sweeping, get-lost-in-them adventures with something real and aching at the centre. Fantasy that isn't afraid of grief. Worlds you can disappear into that still somehow feel like they know you. We care about the craft of a beautiful book inside and out: the words, the maps, the covers, the weight of it in your hands.

Why we started it

Fenn & Fable began the way most good things do — with a story that would not leave us alone. We wanted to make the kind of book we kept looking for and rarely found: enormous in scope and intimate in feeling at the very same time. Rather than wait for permission, we decided to build a home for it ourselves — a house with room for one voice now, and many more to come.

We are independent on purpose. It means we answer to the story and to the reader, and to no one else.

For This Story and the Next

The heart of everything we publish.

Where we are going

We open our doors with one author and one trilogy, The Waking Lands. But a book house is meant to grow. New voices, new genres, and a whole shelf of books are already on their way. If you love stories brave enough to hurt and generous enough to heal, you are in the right place.

Meet the founding author

Lena Fenn

“I have been writing for as long as I can remember — sometimes in notebooks, sometimes, a long time ago, on a typewriter, but mostly in my imagination.”

Lena Fenn was born on one shore and belongs to another. She writes about the ache of leaving, the pull of home, and the strange comfort of a world that refuses to hold still. Her debut trilogy, The Waking Lands, opens with A Map of Vanished Things and follows seventeen-year-old Neve across the Sunder Sea toward the country her family lost.

Lena is Fenn & Fable's founding author — the first of many voices, and many worlds, to come.
